The Cawker City Hesperian Historical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and disseminating the history of our town and immediate vicinity, including Lincoln Park and Waconda Springs. The society will soon complete restoration of the 1884 Public Library building pictured above, as a city museum and plans are already underway for the restoration of the 1879 "Ledger" building on main street (US-24).
|
Also, the society is diligently working on a database comprised of local items systematically gleaned from our historic newspapers. Coupled with tax roll and land records as well as old photographs, this database provides the factual bases on which to retell the individual stories of our town's rich heritage.
Inquiries and donations are always welcome. |
